It is our honor to invite you to join us for the second annual Blue Tie Night benefiting the Deer Creek Schools Foundation. The evening will consist of an exquisite seated dinner, drinks, a variety of silent and live auction items as well as celebrating three inductions into the DC Schools Foundation Hall of Fame.
Since 1981, the Deer Creek Schools Foundation, with the help of many generous sponsors, has provided funding for exceptional state-of-the-art programs, supplies and technology to empower our students to achieve academic excellence.
While these grants have benefited and continue to benefit our students and teachers, the Deer Creek school district still battles fiscal challenges due to rapid growth and a decline in the already low state funding. Based on the numbers for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014, Deer Creek is the lowest per pupil funded school district in the state. Additionally, Oklahoma is the 48th state in per pupil funding in the nation, with Deer Creek’s funding still $2,000 lower per pupil than the lowest ranking state in the nation.
Due to limited federal and state funds, the district has a budget of $5,061 per student while other schools are being funded at $7,800 per student, if not more. Within that budget, 85% of the funds go to our teacher salaries to ensure the students are learning from top notch teachers and leaders. Administrative costs are among the lowest in the state at 3%, with remaining funds paying for revaluation, utilities, supplies and other materials. This does not include the fact that only one-third of the text books our students use are covered by the state funding. Simply stated, the financial needs of our school are not being met.
In order to help bridge the gap between funding and the additional needs our school district has, we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Blue Tie Night taking place Thursday, November, 9th 2017 at 6:30 pm at The Chevy Bricktown Events Center.
The evening will consist of an exquisite seated dinner, drinks, a variety of silent and live auction items as well as celebrating three inductions into the DC Schools Foundation Hall of Fame.
Given the growth of student enrollment in the district, it is essential we have the support of the community to make an impact for our schools. Without your help, our children will risk being at a disadvantage in an increasingly competitive world. We hope to count on your support of Blue Tie Night. Your participation will support the Foundation’s mission of promoting and funding the academic and artistic achievement of all students and teachers.
